Upper Tahquamenon Falls is one of Michigan’s most impressive waterfalls, at over 200 feet wide. Located in Tahquamenon Falls State Park near Paradise, it’s accessible via a 1,100-foot boardwalk — making it one of the easiest ways to see a significant waterfall in the state.
The accessible boardwalk design makes this an excellent choice for visitors with mobility considerations, families with young children, or anyone who prefers not to commit to a strenuous hike. The round-trip walk on the boardwalk is approximately 0.42 miles, very manageable for most visitors.
Dogs are welcome at the park. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry. The park is open year-round, with spring and early summer typically offering the highest water flow due to snowmelt and rainfall. Lower Tahquamenon Falls is located at the same park if you want to experience both during a single visit.
