Undine Falls is a three-tiered, 60-foot waterfall on Lava Creek in Yellowstone National Park, located on the Mammoth-Tower road approximately 4.1 miles east of Mammoth Hot Springs. A roadside pullout provides direct viewing without any hiking—this is one of Yellowstone’s most accessible waterfall stops.
The three-tiered cascade creates a visually interesting feature distinct from single-plunge waterfalls. The paved roadside pullout is wheelchair accessible, making this an ideal stop for visitors with mobility constraints or those seeking quick waterfall views while driving the scenic park loop.
Trail closure note: The full Lava Creek through-trail (4.2 miles) is currently limited due to a Gardner River footbridge washout from the 2022 flood. However, this closure does not affect the roadside waterfall viewpoint, which remains fully accessible and requires no hiking. The through-trail is now limited to an out-and-back route from the Lava Creek picnic area trailhead. Dogs are not permitted on park trails. Yellowstone’s $35 per vehicle, 7-day entrance fee applies. No closure alert for the roadside viewpoint was found as of September 2026.
Year-round; the roadside pullout and paved viewing area are maintained throughout the seasons.
Roadside pullout about 4.1 miles east of Mammoth on the Mammoth-Tower road.
Wheelchair accessible. Roadside pullout provides direct waterfall viewing without hiking.
Dogs are not permitted. Note: the full Lava Creek through-trail is currently limited by a bridge washout; the roadside waterfall view is unaffected.
Located on the Mammoth-Tower corridor; combine with other northern Yellowstone attractions.
Yellowstone National Park entrance fee, $35 per private vehicle (7-day pass)
It's viewable without a hike, from a pullout or short walk near the parking area.
No — the managing agency's page states dogs are not permitted here (or on the specific trail/area needed to reach the falls).

NPS Lava Creek Trail page and NPS Undine Falls place page (checked 2026-09-04): 60 ft, three-plunge waterfall on Lava Creek, visible from a paved roadside pullout about 4.1 mi east of Mammoth on the Mammoth-Tower road — no hike required to view it. The longer 4.2-mi Lava Creek through-trail is separately affected: NPS notes the Gardner River footbridge washed out in the 2022 flood and fording is unsafe, so that through-hike is limited to an out-and-back from the Lava Creek picnic area trailhead; this does not affect the roadside falls view. Dogs prohibited on trails per NPS pets policy. Closure check: no closure of the roadside viewpoint found as of check date; noted trail/bridge limitation above.
