Stewart Falls is reached via the Stewarts Cascade Trail #056, a 3.8-mile round-trip moderate hike that starts at the Mount Timpanogos Trailhead (Aspen Grove parking area) in the Wasatch Front region. The trail offers a family-friendly destination without requiring the more strenuous full Mount Timpanogos summit attempt.
The hike enters the Mount Timpanogos Wilderness, which means group size is capped at 15 people. This helps protect the fragile alpine environment. Water flow varies by season, with late spring through early summer typically offering the most impressive cascade as snowmelt feeds the creeks. By late summer, flow may diminish, but the waterfall remains a pleasant destination.
Parking at Aspen Grove fills quickly on weekends, so arrive early. Day-use fees apply: $10 for 3 days, $20 for 7 days, or $60 for a season pass (America the Beautiful passes accepted). The Forest Service manages this area and has not posted any closures. Plan 2 to 3 hours for the round-trip hike depending on your pace and the snow or vegetation conditions you encounter.
June through September when the trail is snow-free and water flow is reliable; earlier or later in season requires winter gear.
Avoid if uncomfortable with moderate trail difficulty or if visiting during late fall or early spring when snow may be present.
