Mosquito Falls is an 8-foot waterfall in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore reached via a nearly 2-mile side trail from the main access point. The waterfall itself is modest in height, so the hike is really about the forest and water experience rather than a dramatic cascade.
The trail can be muddy and rough, especially during wet seasons, so timing your visit matters. Spring through fall generally offer the best conditions, though you should expect muddy sections depending on recent weather. The trailhead access road is also primitive with potholes and washouts, so be prepared for rough conditions getting to the parking area.
An important note: pets are prohibited on all Mosquito area trails, so leave your dog behind for this one. An NPS entrance pass ($15–$25) is required for access to the lakeshore.
Spring through fall when trail conditions are best; avoid wet periods.
You're bringing a dog — pets are prohibited on all trails in the Mosquito area. Also skip if you dislike muddy/rough terrain.
