Flows even during dry summers when other nearby falls disappear, per official state tourism page
Dog Slaughter Falls is a 15-foot waterfall located in Daniel Boone National Forest’s London Ranger District, near Corbin in Whitley County. The falls are notable for flowing reliably even during dry summers when other Kentucky waterfalls reduce to a trickle or disappear entirely.
Important access information: The through-trail connecting the two trailheads is currently closed due to storm damage and a removed bridge (alert last updated April 14, 2025). However, the lower trailhead closest to the falls remains open and accessible. Reaching the falls from the lower trailhead requires a creek crossing, which is passable but adds to the difficulty. Plan accordingly for wet conditions.
Despite the partial closure, the falls remain a legitimate destination for visitors who approach from the open lower trailhead. The reliable flow and unique accessibility situation make this a worthwhile visit for those prepared for the creek crossing.
Year-round; flows even during dry summers when other falls disappear.
You need the through-trail between both trailheads (currently closed due to bridge removal).
No fee mentioned; standard Forest Service trailhead
