Cascade Springs is not a traditional single-plunge waterfall but rather a spring-fed system of travertine cascades and pools accessible via three interpretive trail loops in the Midway area of the Wasatch Front. The entire trail system uses paved surfaces and boardwalks, making it one of Utah’s most accessible waterfall-related destinations.
The springs emerge cold and clear, creating a stunning turquoise-to-emerald gradient through the pools as you move upstream through the canyon. A boardwalk system guides visitors safely along the cascade sequence, and interpretive signs explain the geology and ecology of the travertine formations. The setting also attracts wildlife, particularly in early morning and late afternoon.
Fishing is not permitted in the springs. The trail loops are easy, well-maintained, and suitable for visitors of all ages and mobility levels. Plan 30 minutes to an hour to enjoy the full interpretive system at a leisurely pace. The Forest Service manages the area and has reported no closures or access restrictions.
Late spring through early fall for comfortable walking conditions; paved trails are passable year-round but may be icy in winter.
Wheelchair accessible via paved and boardwalk interpretive trail system.
If you're looking for a dramatic single waterfall, this is a cascade pool system instead.
